AllianceMedical1ALLIANCE MEDICAL, UK, March 11, 2014 - Alliance Medical has taken delivery of a new GE Optima MR360 Advance MRI scanner after consulting radiographers on their preferred MRI model, to add to their existing fleet of over 30 mobile imaging units.

The new unit, which will be scanning 20-30 patients a day, 7 days a week, was chosen after Alliance Medical convened a working group of their radiographers to provide feedback on working practices of all types of mobiles.

As a result, Alliance Medical opted for the GE model, which is now one of only a handful of mobile GE 360 units in the world.

The new system is particularly beneficial for the radiographer as the Express suite coils have been designed to help eliminate the need for repositioning between scans and the table design easily adapts to the patients height.

In addition, the automatic coil selection helps enable quicker and more consistent exams.

Diane Birch, Head of Logistics and Rob Hallet, Head of Procurement at Alliance Medical team flew out to collect the unit from SMIT mobiles in the Netherlands who worked with GE to develop the specialist trailer to house the new system.

Alliance Medical will work closely with GE over the coming months to provide a number of classroom and practical sessions to ensure staff are fully trained in the new system.

Rob Hallet, Head of Procurement, Alliance Medical, commented: “We are lucky to work with some of the most skilled radiographers in the UK, so it was an obvious decision to draw on this extensive knowledge when considering this significant investment in our mobile fleet.

This purchase reflects our focus on redesigning our services around patient and clinician need and convenience.”
