InterSystems Corporation announced today that it appointed Michel Amous as Country Manager for the Middle East and India region. The new position is part of a larger investment strategy in the Middle East region, which includes the recent development of a direct sales business structure, in response to growing demand for InterSystems’ software for connected healthcare.

Amous, who will be based in InterSystems’ offices in Dubai Healthcare City, reports to the regional director for Asia Pacific, Middle East and India. “Michel has a strong sales background and an excellent understanding of the regional healthcare markets. We are investing significantly in the region and Michel will be responsible for developing new long-term business relationships with leading healthcare organizations and application partners in the region while ensuring that existing customers maximize the value from their investment in our technology,” said Stan Capp, InterSystems’ Regional Director for Asia Pacific, Middle East and India.

Before joining InterSystems, Michel was head of sales at Cerner Middle East. Amous also held various regional roles in sales, development and sales force effectiveness at Novartis. Amous has an MBA from the University of Chicago and a Bachelors of Science degree from the American University of Beirut.

“What impressed me about InterSystems is that it has a dynamic environment, world-class technology and a passion for excellence and client success. I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead,” said Michel Amous, Middle East and India Country Manager, InterSystems Corporation. Amous’ primary focus will be to deliver connected healthcare solutions to the region’s healthcare providers, helping them to develop and execute an e-health strategy that enables increased quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare delivery.

These solutions include the InterSystems TrakCare™ Web-based healthcare information system that rapidly delivers the benefits of an Electronic Patient Record, the InterSystems Ensemble® seamless integration platform, and the InterSystems HealthShare™ platform that enables the fastest creation of an Electronic Health Record for regional or national health information exchange.

“In particular, the TrakCare healthcare information system is ideal for the evolving requirements of leading healthcare organisations in the Middle East. TrakCare’s single unified platform delivers advanced clinical and administrative functionality that is being constantly enhanced through international best practices based on installations in 25 countries around the world, from Australia to Scotland and China to Chile. A key to TrakCare’s success is that it is highly configurable to meet the unique needs of local healthcare providers with multi-language capabilities, including Arabic, and administrative and clinical workflows adapted to the region,” added Amous.

InterSystems technology is being used and deployed in leading local organizations including Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City, Security Forces Hospital Dammam, Qatar Petroleum clinics, Sharjah Hospital University, Royal Hayat Hospital and Al Mashfa Hospital.

Mr Amous also sees strong potential to form partnerships with local software development companies to help them create adaptable, connectable, and insightful applications. “Local developers can benefit from the InterSystems CACHÉ® high performance object database to make their applications faster and more scalable, from Ensemble to develop connectable applications, and from InterSystems DeepSee™ to embed real-time business intelligence capabilities.”
