West Virginia University Hospitals Offer Discounted Mammography Scans in May


Women's imaging news Women living in West Virginia will be offered the opportunity to undergo discounted mammography scans next May. These scans will be provided thanks to the West Virginia University Hospitals-East program.

The new program will offer mammography scans for women, 35 years and older, for 3 successive Saturdays at City Hospital in Martinsburg and Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson. The scans will take place on the 5th, 12th and 19th of May.

Officials from West Virginia University Hospitals said that nearly 500 women underwent mammography scans in the last 3 years via the weekend clinics. The cost of mammography scan and radiology interpretation is only $60. Teresa McCabe, spokeswoman for West Virginia University Hospitals, said that the weekend clinics are providing mammography services to women who cannot afford the costs of the screening.
