PACS News Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions, has implemented its IMPAX solution at the University Hospital in Krakow, Poland.

IMPAX is Agfa’s innovative Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). The solution fully integrates with the radiology information system (RIS) and the hospital information system (HIS).

The University Hospital in Krakow is one of the oldest facilities in the region. It has 32 departments and 60 outpatient clinics. The hospital provides healthcare services to 6 million people in southeastern areas of Poland. The Hospital also represents a research and educational center with active international cooperation.

The Hospital generates around 37 million medical images every year generating a huge amount of data to organize and manage, a job best done using the newly installed Agfa’s PACS solution, IMPAX. IMPAX includes four blade servers, in addition to 25 diagnostic display stations and VMware virtualization technology. All patient information is protected with the highest security level.
