Royal Philips Electronics, a major company providing medical imaging and healthcare IT solutions, announced that it is going to purchase CDP Medical, an Israel-based company offering picture archiving and communications (PACS) solutions.
CPD is a branch of Medtechnica, a provider of medical device systems.
The purchase of CDP by Philips Healthcare represents another step in the company’s strategy which aims to extend the clinical informatics portfolio of Philips Healthcare by adding systems from different vendors all over the world. “This is an important step on our journey to complete our range of clinical informatics and patient care solutions that simplify clinician workflow, improve financial outcomes for our customer and help improve and save lives. The acquisition of the CDP business complements our current iSite PACS offering and allows us to better tap into certain high-growth market segments, geographically.” said Steve Rusckowski, chief executive of Philips Healthcare.

CDP started its business in 2000, in Petah Tikva, with a staff of 20 employees. CDP has installed its solutions at nearly 300 hospital and clinical setting throughout the world. Philips Healthcare is waiting for governmental approval to complete the deal and include CDP as a part of its Patient Care and Clinical Informatics business. Philips has recently completed the purchase of another healthcare IT company from Brazil, Tecso Informatics.
