Healthcare IT newsETIAM, Cambridge, MA – June 27, 2012 – ETIAM, the medical image connectivity and image exchange company, today announced a 50% increase in the frequency of sales for the first quarter of 2012 compared to first quarter 2011. These figures are primarily attributable to an increase in adoption of its technology in the U.S. hospital market.

These results follow a successful year in 2011 marked by double digit growth in both sales and corporate profits for ETIAM overall.  Product sales in 2011 saw a 23.7% increase over 2010. The profit for 2011 has exceeded 11%. “The financial growth of ETIAM overall enables the company to invest significantly in its important U.S. presence,” says Eric Le Bihan, who became the primary shareholder of the company in December 2011.

At that time, Emmanuel Cordonnier, ETIAM president since its inception in 1996 and a company co-founder, became head of the U.S. subsidiary ETIAM Corp. in Boston.  “With the focus on image sharing and meaningful use in the U.S., we are seeing and capitalizing on a growing demand for our product,” Cordonnier comments.  “We are now well positioned to capture the growing market demand for solutions that enable sharing of images across institutional boundaries.”

He notes that because of the nationalized healthcare systems of its European customers, ETIAM has a wealth of experience enabling the IT infrastructure to reach across institutional boundaries. “We are able to point to numerous successful image sharing cross-enterprise implementations that have saved lives and dollars, while many U.S. healthcare IT firms are just beginning to delve into these applications.” Le Bihan points out that the company will continue to invest 10% of its sales in research and development as the need for its products in the U.S. expands.

“If medical imaging connectivity for PACS/EHR and CD burning remain the primary source of income for ETIAM overall,” Le Bihan notes, “the company will put a strong emphasis on telemedicine applications, which will become the main axis of corporate growth, particularly through ETIAM-Connect, which is deployed in more than 100 health facilities worldwide.”

Cordonnier also notes that medical image sharing has become the key component of the ETIAM offering, with the 80 million images shared mark recently realized.  “We are proud to work with key institutions in the U.S. that are using our medical CD import solutions and are now completing these systems with our ETIAM-Connect image sharing solution,” he says.

“I’m also gratified that we have been able to expand our U.S. team in 2012 with key executives, allowing us to offer enhanced client outreach, follow up, support and sales services through our Boston office.”

“Our expanded team and innovative product portfolio offers promising potential, already acknowledged by a significant inventory turnover increase for the first six months of 2012 compared to the same period last year,” he says.
