Healthcare IT news Sectra, a leading company providing healthcare IT solutions, announced that it has signed an agreement with Suffolk MRI,(Smithtown, NY.) to deliver its web-based RIS.

Sectra’s RIS solution will be integrated to Suffolk’s currently-used Sectra PACS, significantly improving workflow efficiencies and patient throughput.

Frederick Severino, Suffolk MRI chief technologist and PACS RIS administrator, said: "After a review of 25 RIS products, we felt Sectra RIS most closely met our needs and we were already happy with the quality and service of Sectra PACS so the decision was easy,"

Using both RIS and PACS solutions from Sectra will help Suffolk MRI in decreasing paper and manual procedures. Mr. Severino explained, "A huge benefit is Sectra's workflow re-engineering process. They spent a lot of time onsite learning how we do things, and determined that we can reduce our workflow steps from 48 to 20 by utilizing their RIS."

Sectra is going to establish a bi-directional interface connecting its RIS solution to the billing system of Suffolk MRI. Moreover, while RIS installation is taking place, Sectra will transfer seven years of data from the PACS to the new RIS.
