iSOFT Group Ltd, a major Australian company providing healthcare IT solutions, announced that it has signed a contract to cooperate with NHS Wales in implementing the Individual Health Record (IHR) system across Wales. The IHR is going to make patient’s information, stored on iSOFT's GP solution, to be accessed during out-of-hours services through the Welsh Clinical Portal. According to the contract, iSOFT will integrate its GP systems with the Adastra out-of-hours system through an iSOFT health record system particularly developed for Wales.
The solution is going to provide a combination between iSOFT’s primary care practice systems along with iSOFT's integration technology and electronic health record (EHR) features. iSOFT is also installing data streaming solutions to organize data transfer between IHR and the practice systems. Adrian Stevens, UK Managing Director, iSOFT, commented "The solution exemplifies iSOFT's 'Smart Solutions' approach in which new technologies and existing functionality are combined to deliver value-for-money solutions that can be quickly installed and rolled-out," iSOFT is concentrating on promoting its solution among GP practices in Wales through the company’s Synergy and Ganymede GP applications. Mr. Stevens mentioned that iSOFT developed its solution in cooperation with the NHS in Wales to use and follow the standards recommended by the new NHS Wales Informatics Service. He explained "The open and extensible nature of the solution means that it will form the core of iSOFT's offering to integrated care organizations looking to connect primary and secondary care providers in supporting the patient journey across existing organizational boundaries."
