The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT (ONC), have recently released the "EHR & Meaningful Use" final rules managing stage one of the Medicare/Medicaid incentive program for meaningful use of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology. The final rules are going to be published on the 28th of July in Federal Register. The American college of Radiology (ACR) will provide regulation summaries on its website in the future.
ACR has been deeply involved in the CMS and ONC discussions for making the new rules of the Medicare/Medicaid incentive program for meaningful use of EHR since 2009. The cooperation included meetings with HHS experts and staff, in addition to other actions such as testimonies submissions, providing monitoring for more than 40 federal advisory committee and taskforce meetings, and the formal notification of CMS and ONC about comments about their new rules.
