Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Mo. announced that installation of two systems of Infinix CF-i/BPdevice vascular X-ray systems has been completed. Infinix CF-i/BP vascular X-ray systems are supported with 8" x 8" flat panel detectors (FPD) from Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.

In order to improve healthcare for cardiovascular pediatric patients, Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics have become the first to use these systems in the United States.

Children’s Mercy will apply the systems for several clinical aspects, including cardiac catheterizations, device implantation and general diagnostic imaging. With the new Infinix system installed, Children’s Mercy Hospitals will perform procedures that bring multiple clinical experts together in the operating room. This will help offering complete medical solutions. Moreover, Infinix is supported with dose management system providing accurate measurement of radiation doses applied during the exam, enabling physicians to depend on it. This is important especially for children to reduce radiation exposure doses to them.

“The installation of the Infinix CF-i/BP cardiovascular X-ray systems has made a major impact on our facility, as we are now able to complete hybrid procedures that allow patients to be treated in a single OR[operating room] suite,” said Marius M. Hubbell, M.D., cardiovascular lab director, Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. “Additionally, the new systems are providing us greater access to the head of the patient, which is critical in certain procedures and for the anesthesiologist, as many pediatric exams are performed under general anesthesia.” He added.

Infinix has five-axis bi-plane system allowing high patient access, which is important feature in pediatrics. Infinix also has a floor based rotation mechanism of the C-arm allowing 180 degree access around the head end of the table. The freely moving parts are designed to be highly user friendly. These parts include five-axis positioner and mobile 8? x 8? flat panel detectors aiding physicians at the hospital to have optimal angles for cardiac diagnosis without re-positioning the patient.

“The Infinix CF-i/BP, with its versatile five-axis positioner, unprecedented patient access and Next Generation AIP create a cardiovascular X-ray system perfectly suited for pediatric imaging,” said Robert Micer, director, X-ray Vascular Business Unit, Toshiba.
