Cardiac imaging news The Children's Heart Center at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Palo Alto, California, along with the Department of Radiology, at the Stanford University School of Medicine, are going to organize an Advanced Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Symposium. The event will be held at Packard Children's hospital, in the period from January 18th to 23rd.

The Advanced Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Symposium will be held in cooperation with the Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR). The event will offer a significantly important educational opportunity to its attendees. Richard Barth, MD, radiologist-in-chief at Packard Children's and professor of radiology, explained "Practicing radiologists and cardiologists from around the world will have a chance to learn about state-of-the-art medical imaging for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease,"

The coming event consists of two sections; the 8th SPR Symposium on Pediatric Cardiovascular MRI/Basic Course, which will take place during the period from January the 18th until the 21st. It represents a continuing medical education opportunity to discuss pediatric cardiovascular MRI procedures, to a group of 18 competitively selected doctors. Each participant will receive hands-on training on how to carry out sophisticated cardiac MRI scans for children with congenital heart diseases.

"These highly selected attendees are credentialed pediatric imagers dedicated to the care of children in major medical centers. They will be mentored by 16 faculty leaders from Stanford and Packard, as well as from other world-known children's hospitals." Frandics Chan, MD, PhD, a pediatric radiologist at Packard Children's and associate professor of radiology explained.

The second section during the Symposium is going to be the 6th Advanced Pediatric Cardiovascular Imaging Course, which will take place in the period from 21st of January to the 23rd. In this course, 32 well-known international experts in imaging and clinical care of pediatric cardiac patients will give lectures about issues of current clinical practices, ongoing research, and state-of-the-art imaging technology.

Nearly half of these experts are coming from Packard/Stanford faculty, while the rest are coming from other well-known institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. Professor Chan said "This is an exciting event for our field and we are honored to be hosts. It's a fantastic opportunity to share our latest research and achievements with peers from around the world."
