Agreement between Philips and VU for joint research

Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) and the VU University Medical Center (VUmc, Amsterdam, the Netherlands) will jointly research new multi-modality imaging solutions in Amsterdam.

According to this agreement they will combine data from different imaging modalities to increase the visibility of structures of interest, that will help them to plan and guide minimally-invasive interventions which will result in improving the early detection and treatment of diseases such as cancer and neurological and cardiovascular diseases.

They also will work together on development and validation of next-generation medical imaging procedures, with focusing on nuclear imaging, especially Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and optical imaging techniques.
