PACS Architecture and Components
Major component of PACS are Acquisition Stations, Preview monitors, QA stations, Archive devices, Workstations, Reporting stations, Printers, Exchange Media and the Workflow Management and Image Management Software. The QA station is also called as a Relay station or PACS gateway, which prepares the images for the PACS. The Archive system has several components i.e. physical storage devices, Image Manager (image database) and Workflow Manager Reporting stations could be as simple as a tape recorder or speech recognition stations.
