Dubai, UAE: Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions, organisers of the 6th Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East Exhibition & Congress have introduced two new categories for the annual Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards 2014; Best Laboratory Design Award and Best Facilities Management Service Strategy Award.

The annual Awards recognise leaders in the healthcare industry who have devoted their efforts to building hospitals that help improve healthcare services in the Middle East and raise the bar in providing world-class patient care.

The awards will also act as a platform to promote the professionals who have worked hard to achieve a hospital environment that enables and promotes a healthy life.

The Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards winners will be announced on the 2 June at the Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East Exhibition & Congress, which will run from 2-4 June 2014, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“We are pleased to introduce two new awards categories at the 2014 Middle East Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards.

The Best Laboratory Design Award will recognise an outstanding laboratory design that provides a superior innovative facility for testing and research that supports positive human factor and ergonomics principles, as well as incorporates state of the art safety features.

The Best Facilities Management Service Strategy Award will honour an outstanding healthcare service provider that has demonstrated excellence in the provision of a facilities management strategy that embraces the widest possible scope of services, meets the needs of the clinical teams and improves patient safety,” says Simon Page, Managing Director, Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions.

The other award categories for 2014 include Best Hospital Design (Built or Future), Best Hospital of the Future Award, Best Physical Environment (Built), Best Sustainable Hospital Project, Best Healing Environment and Best Technology Initiative Award.

Professionals involved in developing healthcare facilities in the Middle East should nominate projects or organisations that deserve recognition in line with these categories.

The winners for 2013 Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards included HMC PET CT Center, Qatar; King Khalid Medical City Project, KSA; Ruwais Hospital Division – ADNOC, UAE; Zulekha Hospitals, UAE; Karl Storz, Germany; and the Clemenceau Medical Center, Lebanon.

Commenting on their win for Zulekha Hospital in 2013, “We were thrilled to receive this award and accepted it as recognition for our continued commitment to sustainable development and innovation.

With the help of next generation technology, we have focused on sustainable site development, water conservation, energy efficiency, materials selection, green IT and indoor environmental quality. Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East Exhibition & Congress 2014 will bring together  investors, commissioners, backers and managers of major healthcare building projects together with planning, design, building, operations, management and refurbishment suppliers.

Running alongside the exhibition is a multi-disciplinary congress consisting of eight leading conferences that will focus on delivering up-to-date information which will address all the disciplines involved with the hospital build process.
