TeraMedica Expands Internationally with New European …

Cites Strong Recognition of VNA Benefits Across All Market Segments (January 23, 2013 - MILWAUKEE, WI) TeraMedica, the vendor neutral archive (VNA) company, announces the opening of a new U.K. office to service Europe, Africa and the Middle East, spearheading the firm’s international expansion. The company already boasts a significant European installed base achieved through an existing global OEM partnership.  Now, it can drive and support core business directly with regional corporate personnel. The move follows record revenue growth during 2012 for TeraMedica’s Evercore VNA technology.  The company experienced increased sales across all market segments, from private practice specialty groups to academic centers to government healthcare networks. Large healthcare systems typically require seamless access to patient images across all access points because of their diversity of clinical services and technologies, and often multiple locations. The VNA’s ability to meet this demand, combined with opportunities for patient analytics enabled by enterprise architecture, make the VNA extremely appealing to university and large hospital environments. To date, nearly a dozen of the leading U.S. academic centers have installed the TeraMedica Evercore VNA solution. Additionally, market drivers such as electronic medical record implementation, Meaningful Use Stage II, as well as health information exchanges (HIE), have also helped to fuel double digit growth for VNA technology. “Europe represents a large potential market for VNAs, and we wanted to maximize our presence in the area and capitalize on our relationship with our existing distribution partners,” says Eddy Brown, Vice President of Business Development for TeraMedica. Jim Prekop, TeraMedica CEO, adds, “The new European office will play a pivotal role in our international growth.  As a pioneer and leader in vendor neutral archiving, it’s exciting to see market adoption shifting towards the majority. Early adopters have successfully demonstrated the value of an enterprise image archiving solution, and others are now recognizing the benefits and are eager to achieve them.” During 2012, TeraMedica was also selected for a major installation in New South Wales, Australia, supporting one of the largest health imaging exchanges (HIE)s worldwide.  The deployment showcases some of TeraMedica Evercore’s most technologically advanced as well as unique features and functionalities and serves as an important showcase for the true power of the VNA. Already operational, Teramedica’s Evercore VNA is helping Australian states pave the way for integration and distribution of complete digital medical records for a patient population of more than 7,000,000. “From start to finish, 2012 marked a banner year for TeraMedica,” says Prekop.  “We are well positioned to enjoy an even more successful year in 2013.” About TeraMedica® Inc. Viztek Achieves More than 900 DR Sales in 2012…

Strong Revenues Propel Growth into Coming Year Raleigh, January 9, 2013 – Viztek, the leading radiology solution provider, announces major milestones in product sales achieved across multiple categories during 2012, positioning the company for even stronger revenues in the coming year.  In 2012, Viztek sold more than 900 digital radiography (DR) panels, including more than 150 complete DR rooms. Viztek also recorded 20% growth for software sales including RIS, PACS and its newly introduced completely Meaningful Use-Certified EHR.  PACS sales highlights during 2012 include Viztek’s orthopedic-specific Opal-ORTHO PACS as well as the heightened popularity of Opal-RAD PACS in the teleradiology space. With the release of the new Opal-CR II in January of 2012, Viztek notched sales of 300 units for the year.  With its exceptionally small footprint, wall-mounting capabilities, and economical price point, the CR has been received extremely well, even with smaller sites only performing several x-rays daily. “This represents significant growth over last year’s sales and increases our market presence substantially,” comments Steve Deaton, Vice President of Sales for Viztek. “The escalating popularity of our entire product line is due largely to its state-of-the-art technology and affordable price point. This enables both hospitals and medical clinics across all specialties to convert to high quality software and digital x-ray acquisition or to upgrade from CR technology to the advantages of DR.” Viztek DR provides industry-leading flat-panel technology with an extremely fast exposure to image display time. Catering to a full range of imaging needs, Viztek offers its advanced panels in both single and dual detector configurations as well as with 14x17, 17x17, Cesium, GOS, wireless, and tethered options. Packages come as either a complete integrated digital system or retrofit solution to upgrade an existing room. “Viztek’s integrated U-Arm system delivers enhanced visualization of soft tissue and bones from a single study exposure, while providing a full range of exams with optimal flexibility,” according to Deaton. However positioned, the U-Arm supports patient imaging from standing, seated and prone positions. It maintains consistent alignment between the x-ray tube and image receptor to ensure high quality images.  User-friendly controls support dual speed motorized U-Arm adjustment, while an advanced anti-collision system ensures quick, easy, and safe patient positioning. The unit’s integrated generator console and workstation improves productivity and decreases the chance of operator error. Like the U-Arm, the Straight-Arm unit is optimized for a full range of chest imaging, while providing similar high-quality images, user friendly operation and reliable, consistent performance. “Viztek is extremely gratified with our product line’s continuing success in today’s challenging healthcare environment,” notes Deaton.  “We remain committed to helping all our customers deliver the highest quality of medical care by making advanced technology available at an affordable price. Viztek is looking forward to an exciting 2013 with a new line of DR panels, a complete fluoroscopy unit, and new PACS functionalities like breast tomography as well as enhanced roaming voice recognition, providing users with full functionality from any workstation. ” About Viztek Viztek is a leading provider of complete digital software and hardware imaging solutions, backed by comprehensive training and support.  The company’s state-of-the-art Opal-RAD PACS and RIS suite delivers advanced connectivity and functionality at an affordable price.  Web-based architecture, with ultra-fast image streaming, ensures timely, efficient communications throughout the enterprise and beyond. Intuitive Workspace Brings Together Advanced 3D, Oncology, & Breast Imaging to Boost Efficiency CHICAGO – EMBARGOED UNTIL MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2012 – With this week’s introduction of Universal Viewer, GE Healthcare aims to put clinical insight within reach to help radiologists and referring physicians deliver patient results efficiently. Universal Viewer brings together advanced visualization, intelligent productivity tools, and multimodality workflow for oncology and breast imaging all within one intuitive workspace that can be accessed anywhere, anytime. It works with Centricity* PACS, Centricity PACS-IW, and Centricity Clinical Archive. A recent GE-sponsored study conducted by ACR Image Metrix, a subsidiary of the American College of Radiology, showed up to 2.5 hours in a radiologist’s day wasted because of workflow inefficiency. As healthcare rapidly evolves to a more patient-centric, collaborative, and outcomes-focused model, customers need to integrate information across different systems to help make patient diagnosis and treatment more efficient. Rather than creating complexity with multiple logins, tools that behave differently, and separate workstations, Universal Viewer has the potential to provide 5% productivity improvement. It has a unified user interface with a single look and feel that is easy to learn and able to adapt to radiologists’ preferences, automating exam setup. Referring physicians can access the viewer from anywhere and patients can get from the exam to their results in less time. Centricity PACS and Centricity PACS-IW users will find a new dimension of clinical intelligence as they explore Universal Viewer. It enables seamless workflow with pre- and post-processing. Advanced clinical applications, powered by AW, are embedded to enable oncology quantification, auto bone removal, vessel analysis, and registration. In an industry “first,” Universal Viewer also includes integrated mammography tools for screening and diagnostics, with the ability to display images across a breadth of modalities, support CAD markers and IHE profiles, and connect with reporting systems. “This is really fantastic,’” said Dr. James Whitfill, Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Southwest Diagnostic Imaging in Scottsdale, Ariz. “When we bring all of this together and provide what I think we’re all asking for, it’s really going to be an exciting step forward.” For radiologists who want a next generation viewer that requires less manual setup to read exams, Universal Viewer has the potential to reduce mouse clicks by 70%[1]. It has a “smart reading protocols” feature developed in GE’s Global Research Center that essentially digitizes radiologists’ sequencing preferences on the fly as though it were hanging physical film across a lightbox. It introduces case-based reasoning techniques, including machine learning algorithms, image analytics, and text mining for automating exam setup. “Adopting new applications means change for providers, but minimizing change by keeping workflows consistent can help to reduce the impact and lost productivity associated with the change. Machine learning features are a great way to digitize workflows without long, costly implementation projects and extensive application customization,” said Judy Hanover of IDC, a leading analyst firm, “Radiologists will appreciate being able to work in a digital environment without having to abandon their familiar customs.” A zero footprint (ZFP) exam viewer intended to deliver non-diagnostic, review only capabilities provides clinicians with easy, enterprise-wide access to images and reports through connectivity with an EMR or GE Healthcare’s Centricity Clinical Archive. The ZFP has the added advantages of a zero installation with no download of any software to the user’s device. It also does not require administrative rights required to access. Jan De Witte, President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Healthcare IT and Performance Solutions said, “This is an enormous step on a path to our future, a future of intensifying imaging investment and innovation. Customers have told us that systems have become too complex and interoperability needs improvement. This takes away time they could be reading exams and delivering patient results. We invite radiologists everywhere to join us and view our proposed solution, Universal Viewer. We invite them to tell us what they think and, most of all, to stand by to see the future of imaging IT delivered to their desktops.” *Centricity is a registered trademark of General Electric Company. Leading Edge Practice Selects Advanced Image Management Technology to Complement its Advanced Diagnostics November 27, 2012—Chicago—Sand Lake Imaging LLLP, a prestigious multi-site radiology practice based in Orlando, has selected the full suite of CoActiv medical imaging solutions, following a thorough search of vendors.  This includes EXAM-PACS with 3D diagnostic viewing for DICOM image management, EXAM-SENDER® and EXAM-BROWSER® for image distribution, and EXAM-CLOUD vendor neutral cloud-based extended archiving and disaster recovery. The advanced CoActiv solutions were chosen based on a multi-step selection process combining RFPs, site visits and vendor interviews. “Sand Lake is a high volume practice with a full range of advanced modalities and is extensively involved in clinical trials,” said Nick Christiano, CEO of Sand Lake Imaging.  “We had clear, demanding goals for our new PACS.  Our existing system was failing after several years.  This time, we wanted the highest quality technology that would support the practice well into the future.” According to Christiano, Sand Lake sought an advanced web based system with seamless off-site image sharing capabilities to communicate with referring physicians in particular. It also wanted automated support for electronic medical record (EMR) integration and streamlined vendor neutral cloud-based archiving. With about 35% of its business based on imaging for pharmaceutical clinical trials, Sand Lake required not only high performance and reliability but also a customizable implementation to meet the specific reporting requirements of its experimental work. The facility performs about 90,000 studies annually with such advanced equipment as a 3T MRI, 64-slice CT and PET/CT.  It was committed to implementing a state-of-the-art PACS that matched its advanced diagnostics. “We looked at a large number of vendors and eventually narrowed it down to two,” says Christiano. “CoActiv was the clear winner, meeting all our needs at a reasonable cost.” “Because the existing PACS was literally imploding before our eyes,” he comments, “we also sought a PACS that could be up and running quickly.  We wanted to cut a few corners without cutting quality and performance, and CoActiv was up to the job.” Noting that the practice experienced no downtime during the technology installation, Christiano notes, “The new PACS installation was really like replacing a bridge in midair. Our PACS never went off line. CoActiv paid attention to all the details, and the installation had absolutely no impact on our business or workflow.” Radiologists have found the new CoActiv PACS intuitive, fast and easy to use. Most were comfortable with the technology within several hours. “CoActiv worked with us to provide a flawless installation,” says Christiano. “What their technology is doing for our research speaks volumes about what the company can do. The implementation is absolutely cutting edge.” About CoActiv CoActiv Medical® is a leading healthcare software and IT systems provider offering a full line of PACS, digital image and data storage services and related solutions for hospitals, imaging facilities and medical practices of all sizes.  CoActiv’s EXAM-PACS® family of web-based PACS solutions provide leading edge, affordable and scalable image management with sophisticated tools that cater to the needs of radiologists as well as a full range of other imaging specialists.  Available as both enterprise server-based and cloud-based solutions, EXAM-PACS is designed for easy integration into imaging facilities of any size. Comprised of modular software components, EXAM-PACS enables any site to customize a solution to meet their specific needs and budgets or to add advanced functionality to an existing PACS solution. EXAM-PACS includes EXAM-FILER® CD-burning solution; vendor-neutral, cloud-based HIPAA-compliant, offsite/online EXAM-CLOUD® QUAD-REDUNDANT ARCHIVING®; EXAM-VAULT® disaster recovery; patent-pending EXAM-SENDER® referring physician system; EXAM-3D® advanced, multi-modular 3D color reconstruction and visualization; EXAM-NET™ teleradiology suite and EXAM-BROWSER®, a revolutionary fully cloud-based, zero-footprint universal DICOM viewer that enables anywhere, anytime review of medical images on any PACS from any platform, including iPhone, iPad, and all Android and other tablets and smartphones.  EXAM-PACS includes such premium features as support for breast specific gamma imaging (BSGI) and storage of non-DICOM data such as prescriptions, reports and surgical plans in patient files.  Complementing this is CoActiv’s family of EXAM-RIS® solutions scaled for imaging facilities of every size site and budget.  Contact CoActiv at (877) 262-2848; info@coactiv.com; www.coactiv.com.
