Healthcare IT news Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of healthcare IT solutions, announced that its ORBIS system will be used by the Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe, a major hospital in Germany. ORBIS will be used to replace the hospital’s HIS and CIS systems.

The Städtisches Klinikum is a 1500-bed hospital with 22 departments. Every year, the facility provides care to 57,000 in-patients and 161,000 out-patients. Therefore the hospital is one of Germany’s 'maximum-care hospitals'.

Agfa’s ORBIS was chosen after an evaluation process of the available solutions presented by competing companies. Winfried Post, General Manager for Agfa HealthCare, DACH, said "We are very pleased that both our team and our ORBIS system were convincing in the selection process. ORBIS' capabilities as a holistic and highly integrated tool for all hospital processes proved its ability to offer support for all medical, administrative and care processes. By choosing ORBIS, the hospital demonstrates its commitment to being an innovative partner in healthcare."
