Image Analysis, the company specialized in producing computer-aided algorithms for MRI analysis, is targeting image_analysisthe NHS (National Health Service) to deploy its technology, which is applied widely in several countries in Europe. The company aims, by producing this software, to help physicians to have faster and improved accurate diagnosis of diseases. It has already installed its software in several hospitals located in Poland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy. Yet, the company said that there is reluctance in the UK to apply that software.

Dr Olga Kubassova, Founder and Managing Director of Image Analysis, mentioned that although MRI scans offers clinicians better diagnosis, the costs of analyzing the produced scans are usually expensive and also time consuming as clinicians would have to review thousand images of patient sometimes. To meet this need, the Dynamika-RA software combines all the images to be collected into one image and applies color coding to attract the attention of the expert to the area where the cause of the abnormality is appearing by means of a single statistical map.

Image Analysis said that the software is the only one able to provide image analysis that is not specific, not made exclusively to certain MRI hardware vendor. Dr Kubassova said “It’s completely independent from MRI hardware manufacturers, which is important when looking at the regional deployment of MRI images, if its vendor specific then you can’t read them." she added “The software also looks at retrospective data, so if a hospital changes its equipment then it can still view it which is really essential in planning.”

In addition to providing more accurate and helping early diagnosis of diseases, the software is capable of showing how a certain drug is working in order to assess its effects in improving the conditions of a  patients. The company is now cooperating with larger companies such as Accenture and pharmaceutical companies to offer an objective way of analyzing of their data but still aims to have further cooperation with organizations in the UK. Dr Kubassova added “We believe that though this service is offered in places such as Denmark it should be available in the NHS in order to improve the quality of care." she explained  “There is very little proven research in this area in the UK. If academia were to demonstrate what clinicians are doing in Denmark with this technology it would, without a doubt, be the defacto standard." and "Although we’re not trying to replace a clinician’s judgment it provides diagnostic decision support and a second opinion option for less experienced clinicians, which is a great educational tool for those that have just finished their clinical training.”
