TomTec Imaging Systems has announced the release of its new 4D MV-Assessment© 2.0 software. The 4D MV- Assessment software merges between the strength of 2D and the advantages of 3D echocardiography to provide the physician

with important and unique diagnostic information and measurements for the mitral valve. There is an increasing trend to operate patients suffering from mitral regurgitation even the asymptomatic cases. Using 3D echocardiographic datasets, 4D MV- Assessment provides the detailed anatomical structures of the mitral valve, annulus and the closure line of the two leaflets in a three dimensional model which for the first time can be analyzed dynamically.

Furthermore, comprehensive measurements allow clinicians to quantify the pathological findings. Thus 4D MV-Assessment provides accurate diagnostic information about valve morphology that would not be easy to obtain with traditional echocardiography. Automated features and a completely revised workflow have significantly shortened time needed for examination and offer quantitative parameters that support the doctor’s decision making in 20 seconds. Frank Schlau, TomTec`s Chief Marketing Officer, said “Current 4D Mitral Valve assessment tools have shown that a static analysis is problematic for reproducibility and communication since the parameters are depending on the chosen heart phase. TomTec`s new 4D MV-Assessment software analyses the whole systolic heart cycle and together with its dramatic improvements in workflow it addresses the needs of cardiologists and surgeons for improved communication and clinical decision making.”
