MRI of the brain shows a solitary intra-axial 3.2 cm mass in the right frontal lobe. The center of the mass is hypointense on T1-weighted images and hyperintense on T2-weighted images representing either a cystic component or central necrosis After gadolinium administration, the lesion demonstrates peripheral ring-like enhancement with a nodular, irregular wall. A large amount of abnormal T1-weighted hypointensity and T2-weighted hyperintensity surrounds the lesion consistent with vasogenic edema |
