Testicular Pain, “R/O Torsion”
Findings and Dx?


Answers
Epididymitis
- Gray-scale image (left) showed an enlarged, hypoechoic epididymitis; power Doppler (right) showed marked hyperemia in the same area; consistent with epididymitis
- Flow is also noted within testicle, which allows you to “R/O” torsion
- Age typically 20-30 year old (72%). Chlamydia and Gonorrheae more common < 35 year old
- Rx: Ceftriaxone + Doxycycline or Azithromycin; alternative Bactrim
